The Train Room at the Moffett Field Historical Society Museum is a fascinating exhibit that originally dates back to the 1980s when the building served as a recreation room for Navy personnel. During this time, Navy air personnel constructed a large HO scale model railroad, which has become a standout feature of the museum.

This impressive model railroad is spread across three levels, complete with train yards, parking lots, seven-story spirals, and more. The Santa Clara, Gilroy, and Fresno Railroad mainline runs for nearly 300 feet, winding through the room in a J-shaped configuration across four levels. The layout is known for its detailed and exquisite scenery, as well as the numerous fun and intricate scenes depicted throughout.

The Train Room is a popular attraction, captivating visitors of all ages with its extensive and meticulously crafted model train setup. It's a must-see for anyone interested in model railroading, local history, or simply looking for a unique and engaging experience at the museum.

The train room is open for display on  Saturdays  during regular museum hours, 10am-3pm.
