STEM Clinics take place on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. The first part of each meeting will be a technical lesson and discussion, we will then transition to hands-on practice and project work. Our philosophy is that everyone is a student and everyone is a teacher so active participation is encouraged.

Clinic topics for August 5, 2023
  • Getting started with OpenCV and dlib for image manipulation
  • Getting started with Flask for web application
The overall goal is for the group to work on projects that help the museum and improve the STEM skills of the participants. As time goes on we will have more formal classes and a greater diversity of projects. Initially we are mainly focussed on Robots and Computer technology including IT.

We are somewhat robot focussed but are interested in getting involved in any STEM / STEAM area. This is a partial list of the technologies we are interested in:
  • Microcontrollers and basic electronics (Arduino)
  • Raspberry Pi and general Linux knowledge
  • Robotics / Mechatronics
  • Servers and Networks
  • Coding (Python, C++, Javascript)
  • Augmented Reality / AR
  • Internet Technology (web, email, messaging)
  • NASA OpenMC
  • Zigbee / MQTT / LORA
  • AI / Voice and Vision Systems

Schedule:
We generally meet on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 10:30 am to 2:30pm.
